Job Advert Role Description

We are seeking a Cook to join our catering team.  The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning, preparing and serving of good quality food to service the customer demand.  The role holder will ensure that all activities and operations comply with operational and statutory regulations.  

Aynsley Tea Rooms is an inspirational adventure situated in Queen’s Park; offering training and work opportunities for young people with learning difficulties or disabilities.

The working hours of this post range from 8am - 5pm.

Further duties will include:

  • Ensuring safeguarding of learners at all times
  • Providing an effective and efficient delivery of food from a varied menu; taking into account customer requirements and business demand
  • Ensuring the kitchen runs smoothly to meet the operational demands of Aynsley Tea Rooms
  • Providing training and support to young people with a learning difficulty or disability to develop their catering and customer service skills
  • Ensuring that the kitchen and café meet legislation standards at all times
  • Work proactively with other colleagues to develop and enhance the business for its reputation as a training facility
  • Ensure a smooth and safe opening and closing of the café with regards to key holder status as well as adhering to setting up and cashing up procedures each day.

Knowledge & Skills

  • The role holder will be numerate, literate and will have been trained to NVQ Level 3 standard with an Intermediate Food Safety certificate
  • Experience of preparing and cooking meals gained within a professional kitchen environment
  • Have some experience of supporting young people with learning difficulties or disabilities.
