Job Advert Role Description

As a Night Waking Support Worker you will be a key member of our team, providing high standards of person-centred support and care to our service users.  Through a creative and caring approach, you will build good relationships with both service users and their families, supporting service users in the planning of goals and in living as independently as possible. Experience is not essential, providing you have a willingness to learn and the compassion and patience needed to support.

We are keen to hear from candidates who would like to consider flexible working.  We can accommodate week nights, weekends or even individual shifts for the right candidate.

Farleigh Further Education College has a number of children's homes which are based in Frome, Trowbridge and Shepton Mallet each with their own identity, working ethos and dedicated team of staff.  This provides learners with the opportunity to experience independent living in a range of different settings.

Supporting students during the evening/night you will also carry out a number of administration and domestic tasks.  You will ensure that the residences are secure throughout the hours of 10pm – 8am.  You will be alert and observant with regards to the well being of the learners and aware of the specific needs of learners with Asperger’s Syndrome.  You will work as a member of the team, sharing and recording information as appropriate.

Farleigh Further Education College Frome is an independent specialist residential college for young people aged 16 to 25 with autistic spectrum disorders, Asperger's syndrome and associated complex needs including behavioural difficulties.

We aim to provide every young person with an individually tailored programme of education, care, work experience, leisure and life skills and training within the community, to enable them to live as independently as possible.

A QCF level 3 Diploma in relevant care/children & young people related area or equivalent is a distinct advantage to this post.  It is not anticipated that all new recruits to the role will have QCF Level 3 qualification but will commence the attainment process within six months of joining and will have a specific time period in which to qualify.  This role requires applicants to hold a clean driving license.
