Job Advert Role Description

We are seeking a motivated, skilled and resilient, qualified teacher who is able to demonstrate experience of middle leadership.

The successful candidate should have a strong interest in supporting young people on the autistic spectrum and experience of working with young people with complex needs.  This role involves whole school responsibility for Quality and will provide leadership and governance for Key Stage 4.

As a member of the extended leadership team, the chosen candidate will demonstrate:

  • energy, enthusiasm and the ability to teach effectively across a range of subject areas
  • Experience of teaching at Key Stage four and an understanding of successful transition to Key Stage 5 would be an advantage
  • A good understanding of developing and delivering a quality curriculum and learning experience for young people with complex needs and ensuring that the school is in line with regulatory requirements
  • A flexible, fair and empathic approach and will be able to meet the changing needs of our young people 
  • High expectations of young people and be committed to the school's aim of achieving excellent outcomes for all learners
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build effective and positive relationships with both young people and staff
  • Excellent working relationships across the school, providing support, guidance and inspiration to the staff team.

Set in its own grounds close to Frome town centre, North Hill House is an independent specialist day and residential school for children and young people aged 6 to 19 years with autistic spectrum disorders and associated conditions.

The school provides a strong focus for students who need personalised support to succeed, thus allowing young people with autistic spectrum disorders, Asperger’s Syndrome and associated difficulties to thrive effectively in an ever-demanding and complex society.  Students have ambitions to live and work as self-reliant adults and we can help them to reach their goals with continued support, structure and guidance.  The school welcomes students on a day or weekly residential basis for 38 weeks per year.
