Job Advert Role Description

Are you an enthusiastic individual looking for a new challenge within the care sector? Priory Adult Care is looking for a creative activities co-ordinator to join our team at our service Charnwood Lodge in Nanpantan near Loughborough in Leicestershire.

Charnwood Lodge (formerly part of Craegmoor) is a specialist residential home for people with autism and complex behaviour, providing personal care for up to 17 adults and young adults with a learning disability, autism and/or mental health needs. There are 14 people using the service at present.

Charnwood Lodge is a large, older building spread over three floors. There is no lift which means it may not be accessible for some people. Each bedroom has ensuite facilities and some have a kitchenette.

The home was registered with the CQC prior to the CQC's publication of 'Registering the Right Support' guidance for homes for people with learning disabilities and autism.

The Role

As activities co-ordinator you will look to create, plan and organise an interesting and varied program of daily activities, entertainment and events, promoting the wellbeing of the residents. Duties may include the following:

  • Liaise with external companies to organise entertainment
  • Listening to the residents though conversation and questionnaires to aid producing a popular program of events/activities/entertainment
  • Develop a rapport with local community churches, schools, gyms ect…
  • Work alongside care staff, coordinating hairdressing/chiropody visits etc.
  • Organise raffles & fund raising events for the residents/home.

About you:

We are looking for a cheerful, outgoing, passionate individual with a creative flair. The ideal person will be organised and have some experience working with in the care sector, therefore being able to understand the needs of residents aiding activity choices. No experience as activates co-ordinator is required but a positive, enthusiastic attitude is a must.
