Job Advert Role Description

The role of housekeeper is part time with working hours typically being 11am - 5pm with some flexibility on hours for the right candidate. We are looking to recruit into this post ASAP.

Arden College is an independent college for young people with Autism and challenging behaviour, which is part of the Priory Group.

The college campus is spread over several locations within a 3 mile radius of the main college campus.

We require an experienced housekeeper to work at the main college site on Derby Road. The successful candidate will work across the college campus completing all aspects of housekeeping and 2 years  previous experience in a cleaning post would be desirable. Occasionally you may be asked to work across our other college and residential sites withing the local area.

Owning your own vehicle is desirable and any mileage incurred can be claimed back as part of expenses.

The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check which will be paid for by the Priory Group.

Typical daily duties to include:

* Thorough cleaning of all areas of the main college

* To follow daily cleaning schedules and ensure appropriate paperwork is completed

* To follow Health and Safety guidelines in line with Priory policies

* To report anything that may need maintenance assistance to your line manager

* To ensure all learning and work areas are clean environments for the pupils and staff to work in

* Classrooms should be cleaned and ready for use the following day

* Ensuring all visitor and meeting areas are kept clean and presentable

* Toilets and bins to be cleaned and emptied daily

The successful individual will have a flexible approach and be able to respond quickly to requests for assistance. You will have a good knowledge of health and safety legislation applicable to your role and will ensure it is adhered to.

We are looking for someone with empathy for daily challenges faced by our students as you will often be working around the young people and staff during your daily duties. The successful candidate will have a can do attitude, be able to manage their time effectively and understand the college ethos that the young peoples needs come first.

Arden College is situated in the heart of Southport, a vibrant and cultured town on the west coast of Lancashire. The college makes the most of its position and much of the extended college curriculum is located within the community and vocational settings within the region. The college is a co-educational residential and day specialist college for students aged 16-25 years with learning dificulties and disabilities or behavioural and social difficulties.

Individual College programmes of day or residential  support are available as either 38 of 52 week placements for up to a three year period and are subject to regular reviews to ensure the students needs are being met. The focus is to ensure that learners are prepared for independent adult life as much as possible.

Arden college provides an inclusive communication environment that supports students with their individualised communication systems. This includes spoken words, signing and both high tech and low tech AAC systems.

Arden college is inspected by OFSTED and is graded as Good (2019)

All of Ardens residential units are inspected by CQC and are all rated as compliant.

For all roles we require a minimum of two references.  References provided must cover the last 3 years, for all of our services we will need to request all references from where you have worked with either Children or Vulnerable Adults.
