Job Advert Role Description

Combs Court is a residential care setting near Stowmarket town centre comprising of three separate homes, two single apartments, and four individual bungalows (all on the same site) which provide support for adults living with a primary learning disability diagnosis. Each house is considered as  homes for the people who live there and we ensure each has a unique and  homely environment.

My name is J, I am a man who likes to go out and watch the football and follow my local team. I need a person that can support me to go the football, communicate with my friends there, buy food and drink and make sure my dignity is upheld at all times. I need support to go to college each day so I can achieve a qualification. Sometimes when I find things difficult and can’t tell you that I am upset, I may shout at others. I need my support staff to be positive, stay calm and help me to stay safe but make sure that I get the most out of each day. I am a person who needs support to talk to Doctors, make sure I take my medication each day so I feel well, make sure that I have lots to do each day so I don’t get bored and remind me what we will do next. I need my support staff to be enthusiastic and understand that though I can’t always tell you what I want at that time I still need you to support me to be me and support me to understand and make my choices. I don’t want every day to be the same, I want to do the things I enjoy and experience new things.  I need you to understand the person that I am and how to support me if I haven’t understood what will happen next.  In return I will be a reminder of why you want to work in social care and hope that you have a good day with me and smile together. You will help me to reach goals even if it takes me a long time, I will look forward to seeing you and I will show you all the things that I like in my life. I need you to support me to be the person I am and do the things I want to do and enjoy my life to the full.

This is just one of the people you could be caring for, we have a fantastic group of individuals with their own hobbies and interests that you could be a part of.

We’re looking for someone who is understanding, and passionate about providing great, individual and personalised care to our residents. We provide all new colleagues with training to support people and their needs so previous experience in a care role isn’t essential but would be beneficial.

What we'd like to give you:

  • A rewarding job, full of variety and opportunities for career development
  • Brilliant, ongoing training to help you achieve more
  • Support of an experienced and friendly team of colleagues
  • A range of salary sacrifice benefits, cashback rewards, pension options and much more!
