Job Advert - Division Information

Ready for the recognition and rewards you deserve?

We don’t just talk about putting employees first. We know that Priory wouldn’t exist without their combined energy, expertise and effort.  So we invest heavily in training, provide first-class support, promote collaborative teamwork and give everyone on our team the opportunities and resources to achieve their full potential.

Job Advert Location Description

We are low secure Hopsital based in Cardiff. The unit is home to 45 patients with enduring mental health and personality difficulties, most of whom also have forensic histories. The facility is split into six wards, along with semi-independent flats on-site.

The unit boasts a robust multi-disciplinary team where the psychiatrist works alongside colleagues from Psychology; Nursing; Occupational Therapy; and Social Work to provide high quality care.

Our aim is to rebuild the patient's confidence, self-esteem and hopes for the future and to give them the knowledge and resources to manage their own health so that they can manage their own sustainable recovery

Job Advert Role Description

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and dynamic Occupational Therapist to join our friendly and creative team on a fixed-term basis in relation to maternity cover.

The Occupational Therapy department has recently established the use of Vona Du Toit’s Model of Creative Ability with the overarching aims of better reflecting patient’s progress, however small that may be and delivering more appropriately targeted interventions designed to develop an individual’s functional performance, allowing a more holistic approach. This is an exciting and evolving model that the post holder would be supported to learn more about and integrate into their practice.

As a team we work collaboratively and multi-disciplinarily where possible, there is scope for development of the role and opportunities to promote better understanding of the role for Occupational Therapy within the hospital.

The post holder’s role will include but is not limited to: administering or supervising the administering of appropriate assessments, planning and implementing a range of individual and group work, and contributing to multi-disciplinary team care planning and risk assessments. Depending on the experience of the post holder there may also be clinical supervisory responsibilities for Occupational Therapy Assistants.

You will be actively encouraged to develop your understanding of the role of Occupational Therapy in a low secure forensic setting, and will be supported to develop new interventions that enable patients to progress through their treatment pathway and develop skills as outlined in the Model of Creative Ability.

We offer a supportive working environment, opportunities for CPD, clinical and managerial supervision at site and a competitive salary and annual leave entitlements.

  • To work closely with all the clinical teams to ensure that an occupational therapy service to patients across the low secure and (currently vacant) locked rehabilitation services is provided.
  • To contribute to the maintenance of standards of excellence within occupational therapy and throughout the service through Clinical Governance.
  • To appraise, interpret and execute initiatives across the OT Service to promote clinical excellence and increase the profile of Priory Healthcare
