Job Advert Role Description

Priory Fostering Services are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Supervising Social Worker to join our well established independent fostering agency.  This role has the flexibility to be home based with access to the local office in Malvern, though travel within the West Midlands will be required.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a stable, enthusiastic and experienced team of four Supervising Social Workers for 12 months maternity cover, supported by our Administrator, Fostering Support Worker, Senior Social Worker, Deputy Manager and our Head of Fostering.

As a Supervising Social Worker in Priory Fostering Services you'll benefit from working in a small independent fostering agency, judged as continuously outstanding by Ofsted since 2012, a manageable caseload of 10 fostering households, fantastic placement stability due to excellent matching, an inclusive and supportive team culture and great scope for professional development.  In your first month, we will agree a personal development plan with you, which will include access to our high quality Priory Academy.

Job Purpose

  • As a Supervising Social Worker in Priory Fostering Services you will support us to recruit, assess, train, supervise & support, and review our mainstream foster carers, to provide placements for children and young people in need of short and long term foster placements
  • You will ensure that national childcare legislation, national minimum standards 2011, regulations, schedules, formal notifications to Ofsted are, adhered to in respect of the provision of Fostering Services
  • The successful candidate will ensure an effective and efficient deployment of services and resources to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people in our care
  • Working in partnership with a range of agencies and involved professionals to ensure that the placement needs and outcomes of children and young people in our care are met and exceeded.

You will need:

  • A professional Social Work qualification
  • Social Work England registration
  • A valid driving license
  • Experience of working with children, young people their families and foster carers
  • Sound knowledge of relevant childcare legislation, including a clear understanding of ‘Working Together to Safeguard Children’
  • An ability to build effective relationships with children, young people, their families and foster carers.
