Job Advert Role Description

Rossendale School are seeking a Cook to work within a small team at the school.

This will be to provide refreshments and food children aged 8-18 years who have complex social, emotional and behavioural difficulties with associated autism spectrum conditions. 

You will be required:

  • Must be able to cook for a variety of diets
  • Must be able to plan, prepare, cook, serve fresh food for pupils and staff
  • Ordering of food 
  • Able to work within strict timescales and to a strict budget
  • All the health and safety aspects of working within a busy kitchen
  • 3 years experience is essential with experience working at a Junior School or similar is desirable
  • NVQ level 3 or equivalent is an essential requirement

The role holder will be expected to undertake an enhanced DBS check and a number of training courses to ensure they are fully aware of all the pupils needs.  

Rossendale School was judged to be 'Outstanding' in all areas by Ofsted.

Rossendale School caters for the needs of pupils who display social, emotional and mental health difficulties and whose learning disability may be affected by an Autism Spectrum Disorder.  All pupils have a draft or final Education, Health and Care Plan 

The School provides education for young people aged from 7 – 18 years of age.  Key stages 2, 3 and 4 are based on the main school site, whilst Key stage 5 have a specialist sixth form building based in the local community. At Key stage 4 and 5 we offer a wide range of GCSE subjects, BTEC Awards, Functional Skills, ASDAN and Entry Level qualifications. We are currently wanting to expand A level courses at the sixth form provision. Given the disrupted nature of our pupils’ education, prior to their admission to Rossendale, we have had some outstanding examination results.  The school admits boys and girls on both daily and residential placements.
