Job Advert Role Description

We are seeking to appoint a Clinical Psychologist with the ability to work on their own initiative, have strong interpersonal skills and be willing to undergo certified training in a range of areas including child protection, physical intervention and behavioural management etc.

The post holder will need to have experience of working with young people with neuro-developmental disorders and familiar with approaches such as adapted Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), as well as resources such as the Zones of Regulation. Knowledge about attachment theory and trauma is also beneficial due to complexity of some of the young people’s needs. 

The post holder:

  • Will support the effective delivery of learning and care plans (EHCP’s) for students through the management, organisation and supervision of therapy assistants and therefore additional experience in supervisory and/ or managerial roles is desirable
  • Work closely with educational and residential staff, for example by offering training and consultation in order to best meet students’ needs
  • Be prepared to also hold a small caseload of students for direct intervention work (group or individual)
  • Have the opportunity to work closely with the school’s senior leadership team and other members of the therapy team in order to support the students  at all levels from assessment to intervention and transitioning to further education
