As a Senior Residential Support Worker, you’ll supporting and inspire our young people whilst we support you to learn and gain qualifications within residential child care.

Where you’ll be working

Rated “Outstanding” by Ofsted, our Children’s Home is situated between March and Peterborough in North Cambridgeshire. It’s a 5 bedded therapeutic unit for males aged 11-18 with SEBD. The home seeks to provide a safe and understanding ethos in which the young person can be assisted to address their behaviours and to take responsibility for their own actions. The emphasis of the work is by way of intervention and to challenge the inappropriate behaviour through a holistic therapeutic approach.

Our Senior Support Worker roles in March offer a salary of:  £21,942.63 - £24,799+ £35 per night sleep in.

Duties

As a Senior Residential Support Worker, you’ll be doing the following:

  • Be the young person’s champion and as part of the wider team strive to ensure that they achieve their aspirations and full potential
  • To undertake a lead role in ensuring the care and welfare of each child in placement.
  • To give guidance and support to all Residential Workers.
  • To plan, manage and lead shifts ensuring children are kept safe and engaged throughout the day.
  • To ensure the Placement Plan and Risk assessment for each child is followed and adhered to at all times.
  • To be responsible for the supervision of designated members of staff and to record this in the Supervision Sheet on the member of staff’s file.
  • To ensure education is promoted and supported and that each child’s attendance in education is maintained.
  • To ensure all policies and procedures, as well as risk assessments are followed at all times.
  • To raise any concerns with the Registered Manager as appropriate

Level 3/QCF/Diploma Residential Childcare and at least 2 years experience of working in a childrens setting is a requirement for this role.

Due to the location of the Home near March, you would need to be a driver and have your own car.

Hours

A family is 24/7 and so are we. We use a rota system to ensure the young people in our home get the care they need. As a Support Worker, in our Home you can expect the following shifts; two longs days on shift followed by three days off, on average you will have 15 days off over a 28 day roster.
