Job Advert Role Description

We are low secure Hopsital based in Cardiff. The unit is home to 45 patients with enduring mental health and personality difficulties, most of whom also have forensic histories. The facility is split into six wards, along with semi-independent flats on-site.


The unit boasts a robust multi-disciplinary team where the psychiatrist works alongside colleagues from Psychology; Nursing; Occupational Therapy; and Social Work to provide high quality care.


Our aim is to rebuild the patient's confidence, self-esteem and hopes for the future and to give them the knowledge and resources to manage their own health so that they can manage their own sustainable recovery     

We are seeking a motivated individual to work as a our PMVA/Security Lead.


The candidate with need to have at least a minimum of 2 years experience as a senior healthcare assistant.




Review, Analyse and discuss training needs in respect of  the Management of Violence and Aggression.

Co-ordinate the delivery of the Prevention of Management of Violence and Aggression, organise and conduct PMVA, Breakaway

Provide high quality training, coaching and support in all aspects of The Prevention of Violence and Aggression.

Support clinical practice through audit review, guidance, including supporting individualised care planning where necessary, problem solving, teaching and supervision.




Liaise with Group Security lead and leads from other sites to share knowledge and develop an evidence based security culture.

Liaise with external organisations, such as HM Courts Service, Prison Service, commissioning teams and others regarding security issues concerning certain patients.

Provide evidence based support & direction on relational, procedural and physical security issues within Ty Catrin.

Ensure high standards and continuity are developed and maintained throughout the hospital, and ensuring agreed policies and procedures are adhered to.

Promote a positive security culture, together with the concepts of shared responsibility and least restrictive practice, throughout the hospital, working as part of the multi-disciplinary clinical and support team.

Act as a resource for colleagues and patients in all aspects of security.
