Rossendale School provides a first class education for over 100 young people aged between 8 and 18 years old who have social, emotional and mental health difficulties, autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) and possibly a variety of other comorbid syndromes. All our pupils have an Education, Health and Care Plan.

The school provides a therapy offer, all staff work holistically with the therapists to support each young person.  We offer residential support for young people, which has been judged as ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted for the past fourteen years. Our two homes can accommodate both boys and girls on weekly boarding placements, as well as offering respite care for existing pupils.

The school is committed to helping each student prepare for adulthood, never losing focus on what they are capable of achieving. We work closely with our young people and their families to support them to reach their potential through academic progress and the development of social skills.

Located in Rossendale, Lancashire, Rossendale School accepts pupils from across the North West and incorporates the main school site, a community-based sixth form and two associated residential homes, around four miles away from the main school site.

We are looking for an outstanding Deputy Head Teacher, with a passion for providing children and young people with special needs with the best possible education, to join the school’s senior leadership team. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the offer and delivery of an innovative and ASD appropriate curriculum, working closely with the full education team to provide the highest possible standards of teaching and learning.  The role is mainly non-classroom based, although your responsibilities may include some teaching.  This post is suitable for candidates who have proven leadership experience, either at Middle Leadership or SLT level, who are excited by innovative practice and want to make a difference to the lives of all pupils in our school.

The role will have specific strategic focuses within the school in Teaching, Learning and Curriculum and Personal Development, Behaviour, Nurture and Therapy.
