Job Advert Location Description

Priory Group's Bid Team is responsible for the production and submission of high quality, compliant and timely responses to formal procurements undertaken by public sector customers. To support this activity members of the team are involved in market and service development activities, the production of compliant tender responses, project management of tender wins through to operational hand-over / go-live and a range of supporting administrative activities. The team is based in Priory's Hammersmith (London) office but operates flexibly, attending other Priory sites and customer premises as necessary.  

The Proposal Manager role is an exciting opportunity for a candidate – experienced in managing (and supporting in the management of) a variety of larger and smaller bids or projects – to work and develop within a busy, dynamic team. Working centrally to provide services to internal stakeholders across Priory Group's three divisions, this role has excellent exposure to a range of business support functions, offering career progression opportunities, including on-the-job training and development. 

The Proposal Manager is responsible for identifying, progressing and submitting high quality, compliant and timely bid responses, working in line with bid processes and submission deadlines. This will involve leading the end to end management and production of bid responses from new and pre-existing, internal and external resources. This will include a maintained up-to-date knowledge of the current market and the collation and organisation of supporting materials. The role-holder will be responsible for sharing and driving best practice in proposal development and bid processes across the Group, looking to develop new and innovative ways to inspire and engage stakeholders. The Proposal Manager will need to work both autonomously and alongside staff from Operations and other central service functions in order to fulfil the requirements of the role. The Proposal Manager will also provide divisional leads with general support and will need to have a 'can do' approach when delegated to by senior members of the team or wider organisation. 

Working as a member of a flexible team, the Proposal Manager may be required to support colleagues reviewing and editing their submissions and in a range of administrative and support tasks. Work volumes fluctuate over time and deadlines are sometimes challenging, so the Proposal Manager must be able to work calmly under pressure and be able to work flexible hours from time-to-time.

What we would like from you 

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; ability to deliver compliant and professionally-produced proposals within set timeframes
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good organisation and time management skills
  • Ability to build and manage internal and external relationships with subject matter experts, including members of the Board and divisional SMTs
  • Previous experience within a similar role and a proven track record of working in an environment with competing deadlines is essential
  • Experience of Microsoft Office – i.e. Word, Excel and PowerPoint – is essential
  • Experience of the social care, education and/or healthcare markets – with a specific focus on the latter – is essential
  • A 'can do' positive attitude and someone who is a team player – essential
  • An applicable university degree – such as Psychology, Social Care, or Humanities based degree or similar – is preferred.
