Job Advert Location Description

Lakeside View is a 28 bedded hospital in Willenhall that cares for patients who are 18 years and over in an acute setting.


Finch Ward - 12 bedded male acute ward

Robin Ward - 8 bedded male acute ward

Swan Ward - 8 bedded female acute ward


The aim at Lakeside View is to provide a person centred approach and therapeutic environment, which promotes collaborative care planning to optimise treatment goals. Right from the point of admission to our acute services, our aim is to support patients to be discharged safely back into the community where they can continue to progress towards recovery in a less restrictive environment.


This will be achieved by:

• Thorough assessment of individuals needs throughout admission

• Person centred collaborative treatment plans

• A range of interventions available from a diverse MDT

• Being cared for in the least restrictive environment


The acute wards on site provides patients with excellent space and facilities, including en-suite bedrooms and large living spaces furnished with activity equipment such as games consoles.


Outside of the wards, a purpose built therapy suite contains a rehabilitation kitchen for patient cooking sessions, and a sessional therapy room.


The clinical team at Lakeside View encourage full involvement of the service user, their family and external professionals throughout their admission. They are invited to attend Ward Reviews and CPA meetings to ensure clear communication throughout the care pathway in order to promote individuals' recovery and facilitate discharge.


In order to maximise recovery, interventions offered include a wide range of therapeutic approaches, combining psychiatric and cognitive behavioural perspectives with occupational therapy, psychology, leisure and recreational activity.

Job Advert Role Description

This role requires an individual who is enthusiastic, committed and passionate. We are looking for a candidate who has a professional approach and is able to contribute to the smooth running of the ward, ensuring the delivery of safe, high quality care. Candidates should have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to successfully motivate and lead a team. They should be able to work well under pressure with a flexible approach, a “can-do” attitude and a willingness to implement quality improvement initiatives. Candidates should be able to demonstrate compassion, commitment and competence to deliver high standards of care within acute mental health nursing.


As the Ward Manager you will act as a role model for the team, and be responsible for the development of your team. You will have the opportunity to develop your personal, managerial and leadership skills within this role. The Ward Managers role is a hard but rewarding position with a real opportunity to impact on patient’s experience of hospital admission as well as the team’s experience of working for the company.


You will work with the Director of Clinical Services to develop processes to improve patients experience as well as contribute towards the site improvement plan and quality improvement initiatives.


The successful candidate will be based on one acute ward within the hospital and will have regular clinical shifts working alongside your team. You will work predominantly Monday-Friday 09.00-17.00 however, clinical shifts are 07.30-19.45 therefore some roster flexibility is required for this role.


The role will include:

• Using your expert knowledge and clinical judgement to lead the ward team to deliver high quality care

• Monitoring and maintaining high standards of care

• Effectively managing human, financial, material and information resources

• Engaging your team in the hospitals vision, inspiring others to live our values

• Recognise the value of effective communication and the potential for developing therapeutic relationships, effective teamwork, interdisciplinary working and patient care

• Roster and absence management

• Recognising development needs of individuals and the team, investing in training, mentoring and coaching to achieve success

• Utilising available HR processes such as probation, performance improvement plans and appraisals to support clear expectations and goals for development

• Contribute towards Clinical Governance and improving quality standards

• Chairing Team Incident Reviews and having a real focus on lessons learnt

• Ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and policies

• Monitoring and improving training compliance

• Promoting a culture in which assessment, planning and review of care plans are delivered effectively within the broader responsibilities of the MDT

• Acting as a clinical supervisor and ensuring that all staff participate in clinical supervision

• Experience of management and leadership and prioritising key tasks in relation to your sphere of work

• Being a site Safeguarding Lead, having cases allocated to investigate and support vulnerable people to be kept safe
