Job Advert Location Description

This is an exciting and interesting role due to the variety and breadth of experience it offers.  We are looking for a qualified psychologist to provide psychological input into the eating disorders service (3 days a week) as part of a wider team of 2 other psychologists, family therapy and Assistant Psychologists, and a wider MDT), and also input into the adult PICU wards (2 days) which will invlove working closely with a skilled and well established CBT therapist and Assistant Psychologists (as well as a wider MDT).  Priory is the UK's largest independent provider of Eating Disorder Services. We have a national offering of both outpatient and specialist residential services and also offer day care provisions at selected locations including at Cheadle Royal

Job Advert Role Description

Our psychiatric intensive care services have been developed over 20 years and support patients in a severe phase of illness, who cannot be managed in an acute or high dependency unit (HDU) service.  The Psychiatric Intensive Care Units (PICU) based at Cheadle Royal consist of two male adult wards and one female adult ward.  There is a positive focus on stabilisation and formulation of symptomology.

Working as part of an MDT across all three wards, you will use your skills to help staff and patients make sense of their illness.  You will have the support of a full time CBT therapist working together to assess and prioritise psychologically informed treatment approaches.  Support to ward staff is also an essential element of the post.  This is a part time position which would suit a psychologist wanting the opportunity to work in their own private practice with the added security of a permanent role within Priory healthcare.  The role is also supported by training opportunities, development of supervisory skills and working within a larger therapeutic team. We are also keen to increase the profile of our PICU services at national conferences/publications.
