Job Advert Role Description

This role is a Part-time (25 hours/week term time only) to start as soon as possible.

Progress School is an independent school, which is part of the Priory Group. The school currently serves up to 12 Young People with autism and challenging behaviour (ages 7-19) and approximately 30 staff per day.

Currently all of the young people have a hot meal offering but there are a range of dietary requirements for individual young people .The successful candidate will have experience of catering for gluten free, dairy free, nut free, vegetarian, and vegan and Halal diets.

You will report to the Head Teacher, the successful individual will oversee the planning, preparation, cooking and presentation of the food, as well as administrative tasks to ensure that costs are monitored, stock is ordered with minimal wastage, and that all health and safety legislation is adhered to.

You will have a flexible attitude to the role with a focus on the young people’s needs.

The ideal candidate must have:

  • Up-to-date knowledge and understanding of food hygiene   requirements
  • Appropriate qualifications for the role.
  • An understanding of health and safety at work, particularly with regard to catering
  • Experience producing meals for large groups on time and to budget
  • Ability to monitor costs and liaise with suppliers.
  • Knowledge of food allergies and special dietary requirements
  • A DBS check will be required for the successful candidate
