Job Advert Location Description

Stockton Hall is a highly specialist hospital where patients requiring a medium secure care setting can maximise value from therapeutic interventions. Our services have produced excellent recovery results for patients and they are able to progress to low secure or locked rehabilitation if possible.

The facility is split across seven wards as follows:

16 bedded female ward - Mental Health and Personality Disorder
16 bedded male ward - Personality Disorder
8 bedded elderly male ward - for those with a settled in presentation in need of rehabilitation for mental illness and/or personality disorders
Two 24 bedded male wards for mental health focus

Job Advert Role Description

As a Charge Nurse you will be working within a team that includes a range of professionals.

You will be central to providing high quality care within a "medium secure" forensic setting.  The patient group consists of Personality Disordered and Enduring Mental illness.

You will work within an identified career development pathway and be expected to complete appropriate competency development portfolio.


Our Charge Nurse role involves:

Adhere at all times to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct

Promote and ensure that each member of the team works to the standards of ethical practice.

Be a clear leader for the nursing team and manage shifts

Providing high quality care in acute wards, with patients suffering from enduring mental illness, personality disorders and learning disabilities

Developing therapeutic relationships to optimise patient engagement

Following all codes of conduct, standards and legislation, respecting the rights of others and promoting ethical practice

Mentoring and supporting student nurses and other members of the team.





Demonstrable post registration experience

Experience of working in a supervisory capacity

Experience of secure environment and interdisciplinary teamwork

A recognised mentoring certificate

The ability to assess and teach junior staff

A proven ability to co-ordinate care, prioritise tasks and manage Health & Safety issues

Experience of prioritising key tasks in relation to sphere of work

Experience of management of Health & Safety and related issues

Experience of report writing
