Mill Garth Hospital is a 21-bedded locked rehabilitation and recovery service suitable for males aged 18 years and over. The hospital focuses on active rehabilitation and recovery for those with mental illnesses and personality disorders.

We believe that anyone with a mental health condition should be given the best chance possible to lead a happy and fulfilling life, and our aim is to provide individuals with the confidence and skills to move or return to the community.

Job Advert Role Description

The opportunity has arisen to join our hospital team as Ward Manager. The role involves: the co-ordination of integrated and holistic patient care, promoting the delivery of high quality nursing care and maintaining a safe clinical environment; responsibility for staffing, rota management, quality improvement objectives and being part of the on-call rota; working as part of the multidisciplinary team, undertaking direct patient care where necessary and ensuring the ward complies with statutory regulations, current legislation and meets quality standards. Your time will be split between working "on the floor" with the patient and supernumerary time to complete your management responsibilities.

The successful candidate will have proven experience of working within secure setting. You will be responsible for the clinical direction of the service, providing clinical supervision for the ward team and implementing best practice. The successful applicant will participate fully with the clinical team and support changes within the service.

The post holder must be experienced in delivering and receiving supervision. Excellent leadership skills with the ability to be able to assess and prioritise clinical situations. The management of effective communication between medical and nursing staff both verbal and written is a key element of this role.

RNLD / RMN Qualification

NMC Registration

Extensive clinical experience

Experience at Deputy Ward Manager level or equivalent

Evidence of post registration qualification / ongoing learning

Excellent organisational, decision making and communication skills

A flexible and strong "can do" attitude
