Job Advert - Division Information

Knowing that you’re making a difference to people’s lives is rewarding in itself. But our many roles offer much more than that. As well as helping you grow and develop your talent, we want you to feel proud of where you work and what you do.

Job Advert Role Description

Priory is the UK's largest independent provider of Eating Disorder Services. We have a national offering of both outpatient and specialist residential services and also offer day care provisions at selected locations including at Cheadle Royal hospital.

Eating disorders are treatable and over the years we have helped thousands of people move towards recovery and to lead more fulfilling lives. We pride ourselves on offering quality, personalised treatment for every patient in our care.  Priory treats patients with a variety of disorders including:

•           Anorexia nervosa

•           Bulimia nervosa

•           Atypical eating disorders

Our care and treatment address both the physical consequences of the eating disorder, as well as the related underlying psychological and social factors.  At Cheadle Royal we have two specific EDU wards and a day centre service.  We also have a range of disciplines involved in the care of the individual and can involve families/caregivers where requested, in the treatment pathway.

An exciting opportunity exists for a Qualified Full-time CBT therapist to join a robust and consistent EDU therapeutic team.  You will also form part of the larger psychological therapies department.

The successful applicant will be embedded into the multi-disciplinary team within the EDU services.  It is expected a combination of direct and group therapies will be available, with you taking an active part in this role. The successful applicant will provide consultation to the wider staffing team, supporting the psychological approaches to care.

Suitable candidates will have some post-qualification clinical experience within EDU services.  You will be able to demonstrate up to date knowledge of psychological approaches to working with this client group.

Specifically, the role consists of assessing, formulating and treating patients experiencing eating disorder symptoms and possible co-morbidity.  The eating disorder service has an established and comprehensive psychology group programme that focusses on skills work using DBT as well as a RODBT group, amongst other interventions. The role consists of being flexible in facilitating these groups and working with other therapists/psychologists to ensure the group programme is delivered consistently.  Attendance at MDT meetings is expected.  This aspect consists of feeding back patient progress and presentation, arranging and discussing suitability of assessments, liaising with other mental health care professionals etc., organising patient interventions etc.

There may be opportunities to be involved in service development, training opportunities (both delivery and attending), and research.
