Job Advert Role Description


As our Leisure Coach, your role will primarily be within our fitness facility where you will use your skills and experiences to build positive relationships with our members and help them achieve ‘the perfect fit’. You will be an integral part of our member’s journey and will assist them through their induction process and be on hand to offer constant and reliable support.

As well as promoting a positive and fitness based ethos for our members you will also be tasked with maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness throughout the gym and the facility. You will also be expected to deliver group exercise classes such as ‘Circuits’ and ‘Body Burn’. You could also work with specialist groups of people, such as older adults, children, and people with disabilities or people referred by doctors. You may also have some duties related to the efficient running of our leisure facility that contains an American Diner and a games hall, which is hired frequently by community groups and for events such as birthday parties.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Fitness assessments, consultations and introduction sessions for new members.
  • Showing members how to use fitness equipment safely and effectively.
  • Lead group exercise classes, such as circuit training or spinning.
  • Giving advice on healthy eating and lifestyle.
  • Complete administration work relating to memberships and enquiries.
  • Cleaning and maintaining both the fitness and leisure facility.
  • Cashing up till at the conclusion of a shift and opening/closing of facility depending on start/finish time

Your responsibilities may include:

  • To cover in other areas of the centre if needed eg: assist setting up games hall for events or help Galaxy Café team during exceptionally busy periods.
  • Assist the Centre Manager with promotional activities

Any applicant must have the Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing, or a Level 2 Diploma in Health, Fitness and Exercise Instruction with a Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) position desirable. Before you can work as an instructor, you will need public liability insurance and a first aid certificate.

In the past we have supported our fitness team to become group exercise instructors in classes such as ‘Spin’ and ‘Metafit’. There may also be opportunities to progress to level 3 certification in personal training. This is considered on an individual basis based on experience and performance.

Our Leisure Coach position is currently on a part time basis of 30 hours a week with regular opportunities for extra hours available. The shift pattern will be 30 hours over 7 days and subject to change depending on the needs of the business. Candidates who can only do a smaller number of hours are still encouraged to apply (willing to consider job share)
