Job Advert Role Description

We are looking for a full-time Senior Maintenance Assistant for 37.5 hours a week to deliver an effective maintenance service across all sites within our cluster to ensure a well decorated, safe and comfortable environment throughout in line with quality standards and statutory regulations. 

The successful candidate will:-

  • Oversee and undertake a variety of general maintenance jobs as required, with particular focus on ensuring that patient/pupil related jobs are completed as a priority 
  • Supervise the Maintenance Assistants and prioritise their work as befits their skill level ensuring that maintenance schedules are completed in a timely fashion 
  • Damage, faults and other related issues will need to be identified and repaired or replaced to ensure that environmental conditions continue to meet quality standards and statutory regulations
  • Liaison with local contractors on site will be required to provide local knowledge and guidance in order that planned and preventative maintenance schedules can be completed  A certain amount of in-house training will be provided along with the completion of e-learning modules as part of your role.

Devon Children's Services is made up of two schools, Quay View School (Bere Alston) and Tor View School (Tavistock) and three children's homes based in Tavistock, Gunnislake and Okehampton.  We specialise in care and education of children and young people aged 7-19 with autism, learning difficulties, challenging behaviour and SEMH.
