The Priory Hospital Romiley will provide a recovery and rehabilitation service for female patients with complex mental health needs.

The hospital will be registered with the CQC and offer 10 individual bedrooms for detained (MHA) and informal patients.

It is expected that referrals will come predominantly from the North West area for women “stepping up” from community based services and “stepping down” from acute & PICU wards and Low Secure Services.

The Priory Hospital – Romiley currently has an opportunity for a part time Cook, working 18 hours a week.

The role holder will be responsible for planning, preparing, cooking and serving meals within the Romiley Hospital ensuring all activities and operations comply with operational standards and statutory regulations.

Key Accountabilities for the role holder will include:

Ensuring the effective and efficient planning and delivery of all aspects of food preparation and cooking, taking account of dietary and nutritional requirements within the unit.
Being actively involved in the preparation, cooking and serving of food and beverages as well as ensuring operational standards comply with the company’s ‘Assured Safe Catering policies’ and guidelines and statutory regulations.
Ensuring that stock ordering and rotation is organised in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
Ensuring operational standards are met with regards Assured Safe Catering policies and guidelines.
Ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations within the kitchen area.

The role holder will be expected to work 18 hours per week working two and half days over seven.  Hours will vary dependent on the shift worked but the role holder will not be expected to work later than 6.30pm.

The role holder will be expected to hold a NVQ2/3 or equivalent or ‘Qualified by Experience’ in Catering together with a basic qualification in food hygiene and will have experience of working in a professional kitchen environment.

The role holder will work in a busy kitchen environment and have the ability to remain calm under pressure and be adaptive in their thinking.
