Job Advert Role Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Investigations Officer to join our team and support our growing business. The Senior Investigations Officer will be responsible for investigating, leading and coordinating high level investigations into serious incidents. The Senior Investigations Officer will also be responsible for liaising with police and other external agencies, for example the company solicitors, Health and Safety Executive (HSE), local authority safeguarding boards and regulatory bodies and professional bodies such as the Nursing and Midwifery Council. The role holder should have knowledge and skills of safeguarding legislation for both adults and children.

Senior Investigations Officer duties include but not limited to

  • Attend where necessary the scene of the most serious incidents and assist in the maintenance and gathering of evidence including assisting other agencies such as the police in their investigation
  • Liaise with external agencies and key personnel, including Coroners and Coroner staff, HSE and Safeguarding Boards to ensure that all necessary processes are followed and ensure minimal disruption to day-to-day services
  • Attend Coroners inquests and court if necessary and provide evidence when necessary and in accordance with legislation
  • Prepare thorough and well written reports to be made available to the Priory Group and to external agencies such as Her Majesty’s Coroners, the Care Quality Commission, Ofsted and Safeguarding Boards
  • Together with the Director of Risk Management roll out a programme of training to relevant senior staff which will enable staff to effectively undertake incident investigations and quality assure any draft reports which they have commissioned

What we would like from the Senior Investigations Officer

  • Degree level qualification or equivalent. A clinical and or recordable professional qualification is required
  • Significant experience in health, education and social care or similar large organisation for example the police force is necessary
  • Experience of attending courts of all levels and giving evidence as a witness
  • Knowledge and skills of safeguarding legislation for both adults and children is essential
