Job Advert Role Description

Our children's home in Leyland are seeking a Senior Support Worker on a permanent basis.  Our home is closely linked to Oliver House School in Preston which is an independent specialist day and residential school for children aged 6 to 19 who have autistic spectrum disorders and associated complex learning needs and challenging behaviour.

Our aim is to enable every young person to have positive experiences and progress according to their individual abilities. The desired outcome is for them to achieve success in accredited qualifications and to gain increased levels of independence in order to maximize their strengths, abilities and ambitions.

Our Senior Support Worker roles offer a salary of £18,369 per annum plus nightly sleep in allowance. There is an opportunity for overtime if desired.

As a Senior Support Worker, you’ll be doing the following

  • Supervise a specific team and group of young people on specific shifts
  • Supervise the effective implementation of learning programmes
  • Be responsible for dealing with issues and incidents on shift and support staff on to maintain effective relations with external agencies.

This is a physically demanding role and staff will also need to have the confidence to deal with the challenging behaviours that autism can present.

Level 3 in Children and Young People qualification is essential for this role. Successful applicants will need to have previous experience of working with young people with challenging behaviour.

Due to the remote location of our home and the duties of the role a valid clean driving license is essential.
