An exciting opportunity has arisen within Priory Group! We are seeking to recruit an Independent Person/Visitor to inspect Children’s Homes and Residential Special Schools under the relevant legislation, in Priory Education and Children’s Services. Priory Education and Children’s Services provides care and education for young persons in children’s homes and schools across the UK.

Our specialist compliance team work independently from the division but contribute to making significant improvements to levels of regulatory compliance across the company.

We are looking to appoint an exceptional, experienced and high caliber individual to work as part of an expert team to conduct Independent Person/Visitor monitoring visits under Regulation 44 of the English children’s homes regulations. The post holder and the team will assist to continually improve our excellent standards of care by undertaking visits and providing robust Regulation 44 reports to our operational sites in the services we provide to young people in our children’s homes across the UK. You will ensure that sites are rigorously inspected using the relevant standards and legislation and provide appropriate feedback to the site managers. You will also identify any areas of concern, prompting solutions and promoting best practice, and provide robust reports detailing identified good practice, and a detailed account of where the required level of quality has not been reached, and what remedial action is required.  Visits under Welsh regulations and of Residential Special Schools will also be part of your remit.

You will have extensive expertise and experience of working in children’s services and a robust understanding of safeguarding and regulatory expectations and procedures. You will also have in depth knowledge of the relevant regulations and standards related to children’s services, and how these should applied and demonstrated in children’s services provider sites to ensure good service user and stakeholder experience and satisfaction, adherence to the standards, regulatory compliance, and a platform for excellence. Additionally you will need to have excellent verbal communication skills, demonstrable written communication skills, good IT skills, and the ability to produce and analyse data.
