Job Advert Role Description

Priory have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Health & Safety Officer to join our quality team. The Health and Safety Officer will be working as part of an enthusiastic health and safety team, you will also be using your experience, expertise and knowledge to complete site audits, compile and deliver health and safety reports and assist with the continuous improvement of the health and safety culture across the organisation, including the formation and review of policies and procedures, the design of training media, and the provision of reactive support as necessary. As a Health and Safety Officer you will have an up to date knowledge of Health & Safety legislation.

Health & Safety Advisor duties include but not limited to

  • To provide expert professional advice and support with regard to all health and safety matters to all sites in the allocated regional area, supporting junior members of the Central Health and Safety Team as required and to senior management as requested
  • To compile comprehensive health and safety reports for site leaders and senior management using IT systems as appropriate in accordance with team and organisational standards
  • Where required, evaluate accident/incident reports to ascertain cause, including investigating, consulting with key colleagues and providing recommendations for action and providing support to sites and where necessary the group as a whole to prevent re-occurrence
  • To assist in ensuring effective actions and improvements arise out of Health and Safety incidents including suitable reporting under RIDDOR
  • To monitor action plans and identify any group learning

What we would like from the Health & Safety Advisor

  • Must be qualified to NEBOSH certificate Level
  • Knowledge of the latest UK Health and Safety legislation  
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Forward thinking, proactive and creative
  • Able to compile reports and training presentations to a good standard
  • Previous experience within the Health and Social Care Sector and/or the Hospitality Sector would be a distinct advantage, although not a requirement.

This is a regional role with some requirements to travel. The ideal candidate would be based within the Midland/ East Anglia area.
