This role is situated within our Legal and Compliance Team at our Head Office in Hammersmith.

Job Advert Role Description

The Priory Group have an exciting opportunity for a Data Protection Officer to join the team and support our growing business. The Data Protection Officer is key in supporting the business to ensure ongoing compliance with obligations relating to data protection, the retention of staff and service user records and responding to requests for access to that data. The main role of the Data Protection Officer is to manage day-to-day data protection compliance and advising on legal requirements and best practice, as well as advising the business on general Data Protection queries.

Data Protection Officer duties include but not limited to

  • Being the primary day-to-day contact with the business to advise on potential complaints and breaches, ensuring that all breaches are notified and investigated in accordance with the legal framework
  • Being the primary day-to-day contact for all subject access requests, including employee subject access requests and third party requests for data, ensuring that all requests for information are properly handled and in accordance with the legal framework
  • Carrying out internal GDPR audits and site inspections to ensure each site is complying with its legal requirement
  • Assist in the development and delivery of a comprehensive data protection training programme including face to face and on-line training
  • Being able to respond directly and deal with any ICO complaints made against the business

What we would like from the Data Protection Officer

  • A strong background and skillset in data protection gained in a commercial or healthcare organisation
  • Good working knowledge of GDPR and the DPA 2018 & published ICO Guidance
  • Honours degree or equivalent qualifications (higher education or professional qualifications) in data protection or law
  • experience in a data protection role handling and responding to a high number of subject access requests and requests from third parties (regulatory authorities, police forces, insurance companies etc.)
