Job Advert Role Description

Priory group is one of the UK’s leading provider of independent specialist secure and step-down services for people with mental illness, personality disorders, learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders and brain injuries.

Elm House and Elm Cottage offer open community rehabilitation services for men and women with a traumatic or acquired brain injury.

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Rehab Support.  Based in Essex (Arlesford and Elmstead Market) Elm House and Elm Cottage are residential rehabilitation/re-enablement units for adults with a Brain Injury (and related conditions).

The role:

On a day-to-day basis your role will include working alongside your colleagues to prompt, encourage, support and assist the residents with their daily living skills, from self-care to shopping and everything in between.

A full driving licence is required for this role as you will be expected to go out with the residents on a regular basis. You will also be expected to prepare meals and oversee meal preparation, administer medication (after training) and perform domestic duties, both in supporting the residents and alone.

As a senior support worker you will be expected to keep accurate, high quality records as well as overseeing the Key Workers in supporting residents with care planning and risk assessments. We also expect you to have good working knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act. You should be able to demonstrate a good knowledge of policies & procedures and be able to work in conjunction with and support the management team. You will be responsible for shift leading on a day to day basis, supporting the Key Workers to undertake their duties and conduct staff supervisions.  There will also be a requirement to partake in the On Call rota.


•           Excellent written and spoken communication skills

•           A good sense of humour

•           Full UK driving licence

•           A basic knowledge of computers.

•           Support for individuals with behaviours described as challenging or have previous experience with a similar resident group

•           Have completed Diploma Level 3 in Health & Social Care

•           Promoting and encouraging independence

•           Providing assistance with daily activities and supporting with personal care

•           Preventing and reducing risk of harm whilst promoting positive risk taking

•           Liaise with outside agencies and other professionals to ensure that the rehabilitation

programmes and care plans are being facilitated

•           Enabling residents to meet their outcomes and develop goals

•           Provide physical and psychological support

•           Support for individuals with behaviours described as challenging

•           Support for individuals with some communication difficulties and sensory impairments


Other relevant qualifications are an advantage but not essential as full training will be provided. You should be willing to work variable shifts, including weekends.
