Job Advert Role Description

Our children's home in Monmouth are looking for a Deputy Manager to support with day to day care for our Young People.  This role will also include supporting our young people in activities, encouraging them to join local clubs, ensuring all health needs are met, supporting them in education, increasing self esteem and equipping them with the knowledge and ability to keep themselves safe.

Working as part of the team, you will ensure the home is kept to a good standard in all aspects of housekeeping.

As a Deputy Manager, you’ll be doing the following:

  • Supporting the management to run a successful staff team and all day to day operations of the home
  • To assist the management team with the supervisions of junior staff
  • Inducting new staff into the homes procedure and culture
  • Ensuring the highest standards of care in relation to the young people’s physical, behavioural and emotional needs
  • Be the young person’s champion and as part of the wider team strive to ensure that they achieve their aspirations and full potential
  • Assist senior staff with the writing and maintaining of placement and risk management plans
  • Support young people in daily activities including family contact, attending local clubs, 1:1 activities in the community, promoting independence and social behaviour
  • You will be assigned a key child and play a pivotal role in their day to day life including attending reviews and liaising with external agencies
  • Support and encourage educational engagement and attainment including homework and behavioural support within the education setting.

Talocher Farmhouses are registered Children’s Homes which can accommodate a maximum of Eight young people of either gender usually ranging in age from 8-18yrs. Talocher places high value on relationships between young people and staff and it is these relationships that are central to the work that is undertaken with the young people.

  • NVQ/Diploma L3 Health & Social Care/Children's Residential homes is essential
  • NVQ /Diploma L5 Leadership and Management for residential child care is not essential and training will be offered to complete this
  • Relevant experience in a children's residential child care setting is essential and experience of leading teams/individuals in a supervisory capacity is preferred however not essential where there is sustained experience in shift leading and planning

Due to the nature of this job role, the successful candidate will need to be a car driver with a full clean driving license and access to your own vehicle.

Hours

As a Deputy Manager in our home you should be happy to work a shift rota system.
