Job Advert Role Description

The Priory Group have an exciting new opportunity for an Operations Director to join the Private Healthcare team and support our growing business. This new and exciting Operations Director post will work alongside the Managing Director for this new Private Region with a focus on growing our Private business. The role will cover the Priory Private Region Hospitals and Wellbeing Centres in the North of the country and therefore this role will suit an OD candidate or strong HD based (or willing to relocate) to the North geographical region. The successful Operations Director will have exposure and detailed experience in a private hospital setting and will have a desire to further their career within Priory Group. The Operations Director will have accountability for the financial, operational and quality performance for specific sites within the region, as well as taking ownership of budget, safety and maintaining regulatory requirements.

Operations Director duties include but not limited to

  • With complete ownership and management for all sites within their defined area, the Operations Director is accountable for high quality and commercially effective services.
  • As an operational leader the Operations Director should carry out regular site visits ensuring there is a focus on safety, quality, commercial and staffing by reviewing action plans and activity during all visits. Site visits should be approximately 70% of monthly work.
  • Take an active role in the budget setting process supporting site leaders with understanding and delivering on this.
  • Review any audit or inspection reports and recommendations ensuring compliance with all statutory regulatory bodies and company policies and procedures, responding to and acting upon any recommendations from the regulators and service commissioners.
  • Responsibility for ensuring that there is a robust succession plan in place, work along resourcing BP and HR to talent map and succession plan for your region ensuing seamless movement around the region
  • Ensure your team is highly engaged, provides the very best in customer service and is a driver of colleague retention

What we would like from the Operations Director

  • Approved postgraduate degree.
  • Proven experience as a site leader or Regional Manager in a similar sector.
  • Extensive managerial & leadership experience with an understanding of developing services.
  • Experience of and trained in how to carry out investigations, both HR and clinical/care perspective.
  • Experience of working within a matrix organisation with experience of influencing multiple functions within a business in order to deliver a first class service is essential.
