Job Advert Role Description

Set in the leafy suburb of Edgbaston, close to Birmingham City centre, Priory Hospital Woodbourne is set in beautiful grounds, conveniently located for access to the West Midlands motorway network and with good local public transport links. 

Our unique range of services gives our colleagues the opportunity to develop skills and experience of working with a broad range of mental health conditions across the hospital’s seven wards.

We provide a diverse range of inpatient services, including acute and psychiatric intensive care for adults (including our unique 18-25 year old service), child and adolescent mental health, specialist eating disorder (including day care) and private acute and addictions treatment programmes.  Our multi-disciplinary teams take great pride in delivering personalised treatment programmes to our patients and have established an excellent reputation for providing the highest standards of care.

Facilitate and evaluate group and individual Occupational Therapy Interventions. The individual should be passionate about recovery and motivated to engage with young adults to support them through their journey.

The role is a permanent 37.5 hours per week and covers minimum of one evening. The hours are worked over Monday-Friday.

Our Occupational Therapist role involves:

1. Manages and co-ordinates the implementation of individual treatment plans for occupational

therapy services ensuring treatments, activities and interventions are delivered through

effective application and communication.

2. Receives and responds promptly to referrals undertaking patient assessments to identify and

prioritise patient needs before planning and delivering the appropriate and relevant

interventions either on an individual or group basis. Maintains accurate and timely records

detailing each patients rehabilitation / progress.

3. Ensures the effective and efficient management of more junior staff.

4. Maintains and develops close working relationships with professional and clinical colleagues

within the multi-disciplinary team, ensuring clinical practice is in line with Priory policies and

procedures and complies with statutory regulations and quality standards.

5. Contributes to business growth by actively promoting priory therapy services in line with the

local units’ business plan.

6. Maintains effective communication links with patients, relatives, carers, and purchasers

throughout the patient’s rehabilitation.
