Job Advert Location Description

Kent House is a 17-bedded Tier 4 low secure hospital for young people aged 12 – 18 years with mental health, behavioural or psychological difficulties, including ASD, and an OFSTED-registered school which supports the young people with educational attainment.

The service is set in a rural environment with close links and transport to the local community and amenities.

We provide care for the young people admitted to Kent House Hospital in the least restrictive way and we adhere to the values and principles of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS). We are members of the Quality Network for Inpatient CAMHSto measure and improve the quality of our care and treatment.

Job Advert Role Description

-Qualified social worker status (BA/ MA/ DipSW or recognised equivalent);

-Current registration with the Health & Care Professions Council;

-Sound knowledge of relevant legislation and policy including the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, Care Act, Children’s Act and Making Safeguarding Personal;

Build effective working relationships with patients and their families in order to support their needs during admission and at discharge;

-Attendance at and contribution to ward rounds, CPA reviews and multi-disciplinary meetings as required;

-Provision of written input to CPA and other relevant reports;

-Supporting wards and units to ensure reporting to bodies such as the CQC and Local Authority is undertaken in line with legislation and policy;

-Assist with adult and child safeguarding issues and take appropriate action with relevant statutory services;

-Assist and support colleagues and relatives in understanding and interpreting legislation and statutory provision, particularly when these change;

-Where necessary, collaborate and act as main contact between relatives, agencies, and other official organisations, coordinating negotiations and communications regarding admissions, discharges and long term needs;

- Bring a holistic social work perspective to a varied MDT and promote social work values and anti-oppressive practice
