Job Advert Role Description

Priory Group has an exciting and rare opportunity for a Paralegal to join our in-house legal team based in Leicester. You will be working alongside a highly skilled Solicitor handling a mixed employment law case load focusing on supporting our employment tribunal case preparation. You will also be trained and supported to conduct basic civil claims for debt recovery e.g. salary overpayments.

This is an exciting and varied role within an established and well-regarded in-house team who are looking for a switched-on, articulate and personable individual with the ability to work well against strict tribunal deadlines taking into account operational needs across the business and building strong working relationships with stakeholders.

Paralegal responsibilities include but not limited to

  • Taking instructions and liaising with ACAS at pre-claim stage
  • Maintaining schedules of tribunal dates with absolute accuracy
  • First drafts of simple defences
  • Preparing / assisting with the preparation of disclosure and hearing bundles
  • Assisting in the taking of witness statements
  • Undertaking tribunal case management tasks such as collating documents and preparing document lists
  • Undertaking legal research
  • Other ad hoc tasks and general administrative duties to support case management 

What we want from a paralegal

  • Either experience of working as a paralegal/ part-qualified Legal Executive or qualified up to LPC having undertaken the employment law elective
  • Articulate with meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent written & verbal communication
  • Ability to build effective working relationships across a multi-divisional / multi-site organisation
  • Excellent organisation and administration skills
