Job Advert - Division Information

WE ARE LOOKING FOR TALENTED PEOPLE LIKE YOU!!

Knowing that you’re making a difference to people’s lives is rewarding in itself. But our many roles offer much more than that. As well as helping you grow and develop your talent, we want you to feel proud of where you work and what you do.

Job Advert Location Description

Priory Hospital Burgess Hill is located in beautiful West Sussex and has recently been rated by the CQC as GOOD across all five Key Lines of Enquiry.

This post is specifically to work on the Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) ward offering treatment to women with personality disorder.  You would be working in a forward thinking hospital supporting our patients' recovery alongside a highly skilled and dedicated Multi-Disciplinary Team.  All of our patients progress back to community living after a 12 month period.

Job Advert Role Description

We are looking for proactive, enthusiastic individuals who want to work to support our dynamic, psychologically-minded team to deliver care to a group of women with complex mental health challenges.  DBT is an evidence-based treatment which requires consistency and team-working.  An initial two-day training will be provided with further supervision on the job from nurses, psychologists, occupational therapist and the team psychiatrist.

The job role includes a more 'standard' support worker brief (such as providing daily care, observing and escorting patients on leave.)  However our patient group can be quite independent and function well and the main thrust of their treatment is psychological therapy.

As a Therapy Care Assistant you will therefore take an active part in delivering DBT.  This includes co-facilitating groups, supporting patients to complete between-session work, offering targeted and individualised skills coaching, as well as maintaining the behavioural milieu of the ward.  Participation in reflective practice sessions is an essential part of the role.

Successful candidates will be able to gain insight into working with multiple psychological problems including self-harm, trauma, autistic spectrum disorder, disordered eating and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.  The role requires an ability to consider and manage risk.

This is an especially appropriate opportunity for graduates or those seeking experience and gateway training to embark upon a career in psychology, occupational therapy, counselling, social work, mental health nursing or related core disciplines.  A wealth of knowledge, support and a pathway of personal and professional development will be available to motivated and aspiring candidates.

If you are passionate about offering high quality care to patients with mental health needs, and would like a long, rewarding and fulfilling career, then we would welcome your application to work for us.

In return for your expertise and hard work, we offer a wide range of benefits:

• 25 days’ annual leave (increasing to 30 days with length of service), plus bank holidays

• Extra Service Annual leave awards

• Career development

• A contributory pension scheme

• An employee assistance programme

• Free meals/refreshments when on duty

• Free car parking

The deadline for applications is Thursday 11th July 2019

Interviews are being held Monday 29th July 2019

Successful applicants will be required to attend a two-day training course on Thursday 22nd and Friday 23rd August 2019.
