Job Advert Role Description

Bowden Lodge and House is a mixed placement service for people requiring specialist support for mental health, personality disorder and a secondary diagnosis learning disability. The Maintenance Assistant will be responsible for the upkeep of two units with a total of 27 beds and communal areas. 

The maintenance assistant will be responsible for maintaining a well decorated, safe and comfortable environment throughout the unit, in line with quality standards, and follows work processes which comply with statutory regulations. Ensures that minimum safety and quality standards are checked and delivered in all unit areas in a timely and efficient manner.Identifies and reports damage, faults and other related issues to line manager (and then actions as agreed) to ensure that environmental conditions continue to meet quality standards and statutory regulations. Undertakes repairs or liaises with external contractors as required to rectify these.Maintains an accurate record of all incidents and suspicious activities within a log book. 

As a Maintenance Assistant your primary duty will be to ensure that our residents live in a home that is a safe environment for them that adheres to health and safety standards. You will need to work closely with the home manager to ensure that all fixtures and fittings are in excellent condition and equipment is regularly serviced. Duties will include:

  • Ensuring the home is maintained as a safe and secure place to live for the residents
  • Maintaining the home and grounds to ensure they are in excellent condition at all times
  • Work closely with the home manager on long term maintenance plans
  • Check and repair fixtures and fittings that may include lighting and heating
