Job Advert Role Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Divisional Surveyor to join the team and become a part of our growing business. Working within the Estates team, the Divisional Surveyor will be responsible for the design, management and delivery of the capital works programme, as well as the supervision of growth, refurbishment and development projects. The Divisional Surveyor will have the knowledge to set and monitor budgets, and ensure the compliance of safety and quality checks. The Divisional Surveyor will also provide support to the CEO, Managing Directors and Operational staff for the division.

Divisional Surveyor duties include but not limited to

  • Prioritise and programme the budgeted projects in accordance with operational need and in accordance with operational objectives and timings delivering an efficient and cost effective service, having regard to needs for safe and appropriate environments
  • To scope requirements for projects required to ensure upgrade of sites to meet the needs of service users and staff as well as current legislation and industry standards
  • To ensure projects are undertaken with appropriate regard to operational requests, Health and Safety, Construction Design and Management, Building Regulations and other certification requirements as appropriate from project to project
  • To raise purchase plans, orders and receipt and approval of invoices in accordance with the Estates Department policies using the Group Procurement system
  • Monitor performance of contractors and ensure any issues are reported to the Head of Estates
  • To liaise with the 3rd party reactive/planned maintenance helpdesk to ensure the efficient management and approval of reactive building works

What we would like from a Divisional Surveyor

  • Minimum qualification of HNC BTEC in building, electrical, mechanical or building services
  • Membership of recognised body / Trade qualification or experience within the industry (RICS or equivalent)
  • Project Management qualification or significant experience
  • Good understanding of the Control of Contractors Ability to influence managers and present the case for improvements
  • Ability to produce reports using software packages, in particular Microsoft Office
  • Ability to deliver presentations (experience desirable)
