Job Advert Role Description

Our Children’s Home situated in Hereford is seeking a permanent full-time Residential Support Worker. Highbury House is a registered home for up to 7 young people, accommodating boys and girls, between the age of 11 to 18.  The children and young people within the home have emotional and behavioural difficulties and are starting to engage with methods of behaviour management and assistance with their emotional needs.

As a Support Worker at our children’s home in the Herefordshire area, you will be a key member of our team, providing high standards of person-centred support and care to our young people. Through a warm, welcoming and relaxed approached with a structured environment, you will encourage young people to develop social, educational and practical skills to lead a fulfilling life set in beautiful surroundings.

Our Support Worker roles in Hereford offer a salary of up to £16,185 per annum plus £40 nightly sleep in allowance. There is an opportunity for overtime if desired.

Duties

As a Support Worker, you’ll be doing the following:

  • Be the young person’s champion and as part of the wider team strive to ensure that they achieve their aspirations and full potential
  • Manage the well-being and behaviour of young people ensuring behaviour's are addressed promptly and sensitively
  • Support young people in daily activities including family contact, attending local clubs, 1:1 activities in the community, promoting independence and social behaviour
  • You will be assigned a key child and play a pivotal role in their day to day life including attending reviews and liaising with external agencies and advocating their needs
  • Support and encourage educational engagement and attainment including homework and behavioural support within the education setting
  • Working as a team you will ensure the home is kept to a good standard in all aspects of housekeeping.

A Level 3 Residential Childcare qualification is desirable but not essential for this role.  Priory Group will fund the relevant qualifications that are necessary for this post.  Successful applicants will ideally have previous experience of working with young people with challenging behaviour. 

Due to the nature of the role you would need to have held a driving license for at least three years and have no more than six points.

Hours

A family is 24/7 and so are we. We use a rota system to ensure the young people in our home get the care they need. As a Support Worker in our Home, there is a shift rota system that includes working some weekends and bank holidays.  This home is open 52 weeks per year.

Week 1: (Work 15 Hours each shift starting at 8.00am and Finish at 23.00pm)

Monday & Thursday

Wednesday, Saturday & Sunday
