Job Advert Role Description

Are you ready to make a real and lasting difference? Would you like to be part of a team committed to ensuring that our children and young people achieve their full potential?

If so, the role of Waking Night Support Worker could be right for you.

Priory Education and Children’s Services is a leading company in the UK offering independent behavioural care for commissioners across the UK. With over 100 high quality schools, colleges and homes we focus on making a real and lasting difference for everyone we support.

Part of the Priory’s specialist Education Service, Miles Lodge Children's home is a registered home for up to eleven young people aged 7 to 19 who have complex needs which may include autistic spectrum disorders (ASD) and complex associated difficulties. This home is open 52 weeks per year and is set in a semi-rural location within four acres of beautifully mature grounds.

We believe Miles Lodge Children’s Home is a very special home for children and young people where daily living experiences and activities are meaningful and memorable and are designed to meet the needs of individual children in areas that are personal to them.

Children may also have challenging behaviour as a result of their communication difficulties and lack of social understanding.

Within our safe, structured and predictable environment, pupils will develop the skills needed to live as independently as possible, so that they are able to enjoy their lives and make real life choices as they reach adulthood.

As a Waking Night Support Worker, you will have responsibility to ensure that the children and young people in your care are safe.

This is 3 night 52 week post to work Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.  It requires staff to be alert and observant at all times. In addition to regular checks on the children and young people you will be assigned additional tasks which might include administration and laundry.

What we'd like from you:

  • Emotional resilience
  • Flexibility, resourcefulness
  • A strong 'can do' attitude
  • Effective communication skills
  • Previous experience in a special needs environment would be desirable but not essential as full training will be given to candidates who can demonstrate that they possess the skills required to be successful and a desire to learn.

What we'd like to give you:

  • Comprehensive Induction and commitment to training & development
  • Guidance, support and the benefit of being part of a strong and focussed team
  • Pension
  • Cycle Scheme
  • Childcare vouchers
  • Retail rewards scheme
