Our 5 bed children's home in Worthing provides a high standard of care and support for young people who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties.  This Deputy Manager role will be working alongside the Registered Manager in the running of the home. You will be a role model for the young people we work with and you must be able to demonstrate resilience in challenging situations.  We are looking for a candidate who shares our passion for improving the lives of our young people.


It is an essential requirement of the role that applicants must have a minimum of Children, Young People & Families Practitioner Level 4 (previously Residential Childcare Diploma Level 3) along with previous experience with children and young people with challenging behaviour in a similar role.  It would be advantageous for applicants to hold Children, Young People & Families Manager Level 5 (previously Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare) or applicants should be prepared to work towards this with us.  

It is also a requirement for successful applicants to hold a clean driving license due to our remote location.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Undertaking direct work with young people and acting as an appropriate role model.
  • Working in partnership with parents, carers and other professionals to safeguard and promote the welfare of young people.
  • Attending childcare reviews and planning meetings to provide information and achieve best outcomes for young people.
  • Assist with the recruitment and retention of staff including induction training for new staff into the home.
  • Offering 1:1 supervision to staff in line with childrens home regulations.
  • Attending to all administration issues in relation to the Home and the provision of weekly management information reports for HQ.
  • To assist the Registered Manager in the implementation of all aspects of the Statement of Purpose.

You will join a strong, focused team in Worthing where the service provides a safe and homely environment for Children and young people who have emotional, behavioural difficulties and challenging behaviour.
