Job Advert Location Description

Suttons Manor is a specialist low secure forensic service for men who are over the age of 50. Care is provided over two wards, both of which are 13 bedded male units and offer an age appropriate environment for those who also have a mental health/personality disorder and/or dementia, in need of physical health care needs.

 

The hospital is set in its own attractive grounds of over 9 acres near the town of Romford in Essex. Convenient access is provided by the M25, and the nearby underground station at Theydon Bois, which is on the Central Line, or rail station at Romford.

Job Advert Role Description

An exciting opportunity for a Ward Manager has arisen at Priory Suttons Manor. We want to hear from you if you are a dedicated, flexible, forward thinking Ward Manager, ideally with clinical skills and experience in working with older people with complex mental health difficulties, personality disorders, dementias, and physical healthcare.  As a key part of the Multi-Disciplinary Team, the role holder will ensure compliance with statutory regulations and current legislation, meet quality standards and deliver against key performance indicators. The post holder will collaborate with the Multi-Disciplinary Team to ensure consistency and quality standards are met on the ward.

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the nursing team possess the skills, knowledge and motivation to offer and deliver the highest quality of care to our service users. Reporting to and working with the Director of Clinical Services, you will assist with the development of our services ensuring wards are run effectively, and the delivery of our exceptional standards of performance that have become synonymous with Priory Group.

 

Managing the ward and resources effectively, taking steps to ensure that appropriate staffing levels and skill mix of nursing experience and skills is in place including effective rota management, annual leave and training arrangements.

 

A highly motivated and experienced professional, you will bring at least five years previous relevant experience, together with managerial/supervisory experience for a group of professional staff.  You will also hold a relevant professional qualification (RMN) together with full membership/accreditation of a professional institution. 

 

Successful candidates will be motivated to work in a service that offers involvement and empowerment for service users, contributing to the development and enhancement of nursing services at site. Ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and current legislation, meeting quality standards and delivering against key performance indicators, you will lead, enhance and deliver our exceptional standards of performance that have become synonymous with Priory Group, the UK’s leading independent provider of mental health services.

 

What we’d like from you:

 

•           Be currently Registered with the NMC (Nursing & Midwifery Council Registered) as a first level nurse (Charge Nurse experience)

•           Have at least 2 years’ experience in a supervisory capacity.

•           Post qualification 5 years +

•           Willingness to complete further clinical, managerial and leadership training and development relevant to your area of practice in management and leadership.

•           Motivated with a strong “can do” attitude

•           Ability to harness the commitment and potential of others

•           Excellent organisational capability

•           Effective communication skills

•           A role model to other staff - providing advice and support to promote good practice

•           Ensures that Incident reporting is completed promptly and takes corrective action where required, engaging colleagues in the process.

•           Makes sure that the physical healthcare needs of patients are assessed and managed effectively, alongside their mental health and psychological needs equally.

•           Computer literate

•           Undertakes and manages clinical investigations, complaints, and HR investigations, ensuring these are completed thoroughly, promptly and to a high standard

•           To attend department/ward meetings as directed. To actively participate in the planning of service developments.

•           To provide supervision of staff, and development of nursing interventions within the hospital to improve quality.
