WE ARE LOOKING FOR TALENTED PEOPLE LIKE YOU!!

Knowing that you’re making a difference to people’s lives is rewarding in itself. But our many roles offer much more than that. As well as helping you grow and develop your talent, we want you to feel proud of where you work and what you do.

Job Advert Location Description

The Priory Hospital Nottingham provides effective and personalised evidence-based treatment programmes for both males and females aged 18 years or older, who require acute mental health emergency care. We are now recruiting for a Specility Doctor for our 14 bedded acute admissions ward. The Hospital Director is the Registered Manager.

The unit underwent its most recent CQC inspection and was rated as outstanding in January 2019 placing it amongst the top echelon of acute services.

Safety and quality is at the heart of everything we do for our patients at Priory Hospitals. We strive at all times to provide care in the least restrictive manner, to maximise our patients’ independence, to empower and involve our patients and their carers in their care.  We aim to maintain the highest standards of dignity and respect for our patients and their carers.

Job Advert Role Description

Priory North operates a Consultant-led medical model, with manageable patient caseloads and plentiful support from either Specialty Doctors or Advanced Practitioners/Nurse Prescribers.  The focus is on high quality expert psychiatric care delivered to the wards by Consultants who are specifically trained and skilled in the models of care, and who are clinical leaders for values, ethics and innovation.  The medical team across the North Region is cohesive and diverse and is evolving to work as a functional problem-solving department, despite the geographical distance between sites.  There is a strong medical presence in governance and at Regional SMT level, which supports medical staff at site.  The successful applicant will be joining an expanding and exciting team of skilled medical staff who are committed to quality improvement, personal and professional development.  This includes support with MRCPsych examintaions and applications for Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) to support career progress, and enjoyable working lives.

The Specialty Doctor is part of, and provides support to, a multidisciplinary team that aspires to provide excellent bespoke care to enable our patients to fulfil their recovery goals and work towards discharge to the life they want.  The Specialty Doctor is responsible for the day-to-day care of patients in their allocated caseload, reporting to the Consultant Psychiatrist, who is supervising their work.  The Specialty Doctor has a key role in supporting the team to provide evidence-based treatment with the patient at the centre of the team’s approach.  This post is a Psychiatry Specialty Doctor post for the acute inpatient ward.  A fulltime Consultant Psychiatrist works on the ward and the Speciality Doctor will work with the Consultant.

The successful applicant will join established MDTs on the ward, which includes Nurses, OT's and Consultant Psychiatrist. The maximum caseload is 16, and this is consistent with Consultant-led specialist service with Specialty Doctor support.

The successful candidate will be joining a stable and well-run site, which has strong governance.  The successful applicant will be expected to take an active role in service and quality development and to participate in the Weekly Doctors meeting. The successful candidate will have an interest in working in an acute inpatient setting, as well as a demonstrable commitment to innovation, evidence-based interventions, multi-professional working and service-user involvement.

The on call is a first on-call 1 in 5 covering the acute services across three sites in Nottingham with additional support from RMO cover.  The sites are close to each other.  This requires the post-holder to be within 30 minutes of Calverton Hill Hospital or Priory Hospital East Midlands when on call.  There is on call accommodation at Calverton Hill Hospital if required.
