Job Advert Location Description

An opportunity has arisen for a qualified social worker to join Priory Cheadle Royal Hospital, offering an enthusiastic and skilled practitioner the chance to work in a multi-disciplinary setting with a wide range of client groups. In this role you will further develop your professional skills and knowledge, and make a genuine contribution to supporting the recovery  and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the individuals cared for at Priory Cheadle Royal Hospital. The role is suited to a confident self- starter, able to work independently, liaise with both internal and external professionals at all levels and take responsibility for their own practice and development whilst making the most of the support and opportunities available to Priory Group employees. Relevant Mental Health social work experience is preferred but far more important is a commitment to embodying Priory Group and social work values, and using your skills and knowledge to make a meaningful contribution to the excellent care of our patients.

 

 

The Priory Hospital Cheadle Royal is a specialist provider of complex mental health services, providing clinical excellence in our eating disorders, adolescent, rehabilitation and PICU services. Set within landscaped gardens, Cheadle Royal offers a comprehensive inpatient, specialist mental health service for young people and adults.  The service is dedicated to providing innovative, high quality care and treatment for service users with challenging and complex needs, in order to enable their recovery and re-engagement with the community.  The Hospital employs around 470 staff.

 

Role requirements:

 

-Qualified social worker status (BA/ MA/ DipSW or recognised equivalent);

-Current registration with the Health & Care Professions Council;

-Sound knowledge of relevant legislation and policy including the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, Care Act, Children’s Act and Making Safeguarding Personal;

-Ideally, experience working as a qualified practitioner within a relevant mental health setting- final practice placements in such a setting will be taken into consideration.

 

Job Advert Role Description

Key duties will include:

Build effective working relationships with patients and their families in order to support their needs during admission and at discharge;

-Attendance at and contribution to ward rounds, CPA reviews and multi-disciplinary meetings as required;

-Provision of written input to CPA and other relevant reports;

-Supporting wards and units to ensure reporting to bodies such as the CQC and Local Authority is undertaken in line with legislation and policy;

-Assist with adult and child safeguarding issues and take appropriate action with relevant statutory services;

-Assist and support colleagues and relatives in understanding and interpreting legislation and statutory provision, particularly when these change;

-Where necessary, collaborate and act as main contact between relatives, agencies, and other official organisations, coordinating negotiations and communications regarding admissions, discharges and long term needs;

- Bring a holistic social work perspective to a varied MDT and promote social work values and anti-oppressive practice
