If you have answered yes to these questions, our specialist care setting for children and young people needs you!  We are seeking talented Children's Autism Support Workers in the heart of Hampshire who are keen to make a difference to the young people we care for.

‘About Us’

Part of the Priory’s specialist Education Service, Miles Lodge Children's home is a registered home for up to eleven young people aged 7 to 19 who have autistic spectrum disorders (ASD) and complex associated difficulties. This home is open 52 weeks per year and is set in a semi-rural location within four acres of beautifully mature grounds.

We believe Miles Lodge Children’s Home is a very special home for children and young people where daily living experiences and activities are meaningful and memorable and are designed to meet the needs of individual children in areas that are personal to them.

The care we provide is tailored to each young person to enable them to fulfil their full potential.  Their needs are complex and the work we do is challenging but everyone who joins Priory Group are provided with the relevant training that is specific to their role.  There is also the opportunity to gain a recognised qualification in Children and Young People at Level 3.

What will I be doing?

Your day will be varied but overall you will provide the highest quality care in a safe and positive environment. This will involve listening and using non-verbal communication to every young person in the residential setting but will also spend time in school supporting during the academic day. You must be prepared to work on a shift system including early, late and weekend shifts.This is a 38 week post during term time only.

Your duties may include: -

  • Ensuring the safety of our young people is paramount.

  • Supporting our young people with daily life skills; dressing, personal hygiene and preparing food for meal times.

  • Encouraging positive behaviours and caring for the well-being of our service users.

  • Supporting the wider team of staff within the home and school to ensure the young people reach their full potential.

  • You may act as a Key Worker, which involves liaising with external agencies, family members and other support services.

What we need from you!

Your role as a Children's Autism Support Worker requires passion and enthusiasm, excellent communications skills, high levels of self-motivation and the necessary drive and commitment to help our young people to achieve their goals.  It is essential to act as a role model to make a real and lasting difference to their lives.

What you’ll get from us…

As a Support Worker in our home in Lyndhurst, you can expect to earn a salary of £15,161 per annum (term time only).  You must be prepared to work on a rota system including early, late and weekend shifts. Previous experience in a special needs environment would be desirable but is not essential as full training will be given.
