Job Advert Role Description

Priory Education and Children’s Services is a leading company in the UK offering independent behavioural care for commissioners across the UK.  With over 100 high quality schools, colleges and homes we focus on making a real and lasting difference for everyone we support.

We are now looking for an exceptional and experienced leader to work with a committed new senior regional team to relaunch our children’s services.

We have four children’s homes, which are ready to open and have all received significant investment and offer exceptional accommodation; this is a real opportunity to create something very special.

The homes will offer places to children who are likely to attend our two schools, Tor View School (ASD / LD) and Quay View School (Trauma and Attachment / SEMH), which are local and highly supportive of working with children who are looked after. Both schools have experienced therapists who can support our joined up approaches for the children we support.

It is likely that two homes will work with each school and the successful applicant for this role will therefore be able to ensure that they have a sound professional knowledge of children and young people with a broad range of needs.

The role is an exciting one where the candidate will most definitely see a tangible impact of their work. For each home, they will assist in recruiting the Registered Manager, reviewing the Statement of Purpose for the home, recruiting the staff, training them and ensuring we always meet the needs of our young people, whilst maintaining their safety.

Monitoring and quality assurance will be an unyielding element of the role as we seek to guarantee we are working to the best quality standards and are able to prove that to regulators and external stakeholders.

Experience of high level liaison with Ofsted will be critical, as they are particularly interested to ensure that our homes are run exceptionally well when they relaunch.

We are looking for a dynamic, confident and innovative leader to assist operations overseeing the Registered Manager's of our children's homes and to support current home management teams in attaining good or above Ofsted ratings.  You will ensure that the services comply with statutory regulations, governance and quality standards and that our young people experience first class care packages.

The successful candidate will be compassionate in nature with a resilient and mature attitude. They will be able to handle tough situations and challenging environments. To be most effective this role, you will be required to be physically present within our children's homes across the region.

This is the opportunity to make a difference to our residential services and ensure the highest standards of support and compliance throughout the organisation.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Taking residential services to the highest possible standards of care, support and compliance
  • Be able to provide evidence of successful regulatory outcomes (will be able to present reports showing they have achieved Good or better as either Registered Manager or Responsible Individual).
  • Ensure that young people experience high class care packages
  • Ensure that the teams within the homes are confident and focused on proving high quality care and support
  • Manage occupancy in order that new young people are properly welcomed and integrated into the homes
  • Manage all budgeted financial arrangements.

To achieve this you will need to be able to:

  • Lead and motivate different teams
  • Create and develop strong relationships – both internal and external
  • Promote a strong Compliance and Health and Safety ethic
  • Make the most efficient use of the homes’ resources
  • Contribute to the referral process
  • Demonstrate a passion for making a difference to young people’s lives

Our aim at Priory Education and Children’s services is to bring about the best in every young person to enable them to achieve positive experiences and progress according to their own individual abilities. The desired outcome is for young people to achieve success through increased levels of independence to enable them to maximise their strengths, abilities and ambitions.

Priory Education and Children’s Services are expanding at a rapid rate and this is truly an exciting time to join.  We are committed to staff development and progression and we offer a clear career pathway journey for your personal and professional growth, supporting qualifications up to Master’s degree equivalent.

The successful applicants will need to have had a wide range of experience as a child care practitioner within Children's Services or Education having managed teams in a residential setting.  A Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Care or equivalent is essential.  A full clean driving licence is required for this role.

What we can offer you:

  • A competitive salary
  • 33 days annual leave (inc. bank holidays)
