The service is dedicated to providing innovative, high quality care and treatment for service users with challenging and complex needs, in order to enable their recovery and re-engagement with the community.

Job Advert Role Description

·         The Priory Hospital Cheadle Royal is a specialist provider of complex mental health services, providing clinical excellence across 11 wards which include eating disorder service, CAMHS, rehabilitation, acute and PICU services.


·         CAMHS services have developed national reputation for offering treatment for complex and challenging presentations in young people. All 3 units benefit from experienced MDT teams.


·         Orchard unit is a 15 bedded mixed gender adolescent General acute Unit, offering admissions nationally since 2004. The unit has built reputation of offering evidence based comprehensive care and treatment for young people with varied range of psychiatric presentation especially Eating Disorders.

·         You will work alongside an experienced consultant psychiatrist in a specialist Tier 4 setting. This post offers excellent opportunity for doctors who would like to pursue career in CAMHS through Specialist training or CESAR. The team offers an excellent opportunity to develop your clinical knowledge with a wide variety of clinical experience not usually available within the NHS.  

·         You will have a solid commitment to CPD and have an excellent track record in supporting Candidate will join a large team of medical colleagues and will participate  in peer group meetings, clinical meetings and academic meetings.

·         Candidate will also join out of hours on call rota for the site.


·         This role would suit someone who has had experience of working with young people in inpatient settings with complex presentations. We are looking for an experienced dynamic and flexible candidate who takes initiative and enjoys working with young people.   


·         The post holder will be expected to work closely with the consultant and MDT, but be also able to work independently.


·         Key Accountabilities include:

§  Comprehensive Assessments on admission

§  Management of patients on the ward including physical health, mental state and risk management and formulation.


·         Engagement with external professionals and families/carers.

•              Overseeing pharmacological interventions and working with MDT to offer holistic treatment plan.

•              Must have proficient IT skills as prompt entry onto the electronic care record is essential.

•              Timely discharge GP notifications and discharge summaries.

•              Preparation of Mental Health Act tribunal reports.


Participation in audit, research, quality and performance management and other clinical and professional activities.
