Job Advert Role Description

We are looking for a practitioner with a passion and knowledge surrounding ASD and sensory processing disorders.  The successful applicant will be HCPC registered and will hold BSc Occupational Therapy or profession specific equivalent qualification.

Newbury Manor School is a specialist school for 30 young people aged 7 to 19 who have autistic spectrum disorders (ASD). Our tailored approach means we are able to support young people with a wide range of needs, from those who are broadly average in their ability to others, who have more severe learning difficulties.

We provide a total environment where young people are offered safe, secure and predictable surroundings in which they can come to understand their own areas of difficulties and learn skills and techniques in order to overcome them. This ensures that they are able to fulfil their potential socially, academically, physically and spiritually and enable them to rebuild their low self-esteem and self-belief.

It is an essential requirement of the role for the successful applicant to have previous experience of working with children with complex needs.  You will have an experience/awareness of Sensory Processing Disorders and the application of sensory integration theory in practice, assessment and clinical observations and you will be able to demonstrate a dynamic and creative approach to delivering treatment.

This role will have a strategic element, whereby you will assess, deliver and review therapeutic provision to our young people. it is also expected that you will provide training to the staff team to ensure a consistent and coherent approach is maintained.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of three years' experience and a post graduate level 2 or 3 qualification in Sensory Integration Therapy.

You will benefit from a bespoke induction package, support and access to training and development (internal and external), regular supervision and appraisal as well as the support of a committed therapy team.

This role is for three days per week, term time only (ideally Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays). For more information about the role, or to arrange a visit to the school, please contact Sue Witt on 01373 814980.
