Priory Adult Care is the UK’s leading independent provider of specialist adult care services. Our aim is to provide the right support in the right home for all the individuals we accommodate.

With community-based residential care settings, as well as a network of supported living services, we support adults over the age of 18 with autism, dementia, learning disabilities, mental health conditions, Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS) and behaviours that challenge. We also offer a range of residential and nursing care settings for older people with varying levels of need.

Some responsibilities of the role

  • Take accountability for the delivery of the Adult Care Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and PROACT-SCIPr-UK® Strategy to ensure the principles of PBS and person centred care are central to the ethos and culture across the business.
  • Use a variety of information sources to maintain an awareness of the needs of our service users in relation to PBS and work with colleagues to identify proactive strategies to reduce
  • Take a lead role in ensuring excellence in service user care, demonstrable improvements in service users’ quality of life, ongoing reductions in restrictive practices, and therefore contributing to our plans for growth by developing PBS as a unique selling point for the organisation.
  • Be responsible for the leadership, management and consistency of practice of a national team of PBS Practitioners

The successful candidate will:

  • Expert specialist knowledge of PBS and implementing strategy in a related business environment.
  • Extensive experience of managing and leading PBS Practitioners and the development of a PBS and person centred culture in a diverse and complex environment
  • At least 5 years' experience of working with adults with an Intellectual or Developmental Disability (IDD), Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Mental Health Diagnoses and/or those who may display behaviours that can challenge
  • A PROACT-SCIPr-UK® Instructor Qualification
  • An undergraduate psychology degree or similar and a post-graduate degree, certificate/diploma in Applied Behaviour Analysis or Positive Behaviour Support
  • Experience of leading a team – being able to set objectives, equipping employees to achieve those objectives and providing a range of support to help a team develop and progress its overall level of capability and contribution to the business
