Priory Group have an exciting opportunity for an experienced senior nurse to join our business in the post of Deputy Director of Nursing. The Post of Deputy Director of Nursing offers a great opportunity for a talented senior nurse to work alongside the Group Director of Quality, Nursing and Professional Development in supporting the provision of excellence & high quality nursing care focusing on safety, effectiveness and patient/service user experience. The Deputy Director of Nursing will be in a position to influence and drive outstanding patient care across Priory Group, whilst providing leadership that both inspires and motivates nurses across all of our care settings.

Deputy Director of Nursing responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Take delegated responsibility to lead the development of the nursing strategy for the group, along with the two Associate Directors of Nursing; Actively lead the implementation of this strategy ensuring it reflects current and future strategy
  • Take the delegated lead responsibility for Infection prevention and control, leading the group wide committee and supporting the Associate nurse directors in taking this agenda forward in their respective divisions
  • Working nationally, support sites in developing their relationships with HEIs, to accommodate student nurses, and practice placements for other members of the nursing workforce; Ensure that placement fees are being received and hold responsibility for the utilisation of that budget across the group
  • Ensure that there is a clear plan in place for newly qualified and returning to practice nurses, so they receive the appropriate levels of support and education
  • As a member of the Group Quality, Nursing and Professional Development Department, undertake specific pieces of work collaboratively both within the team, and across other corporate departments and the divisions

What we would like from a Deputy Director of Nursing

  • NMC Registered Nurse in Mental Health, Learning Disability or Adult nursing
  • Degree or equivalent experience, Master’s degree or relevant experience
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, with an ability to build and sustain relationships at all levels
  • Culturally and politically aware with knowledge of national decision making and influencing bodies
  • The ability to deal with multiple issues simultaneously in a highly dynamic environment
  • Broad career history across a variety of clinical and leadership functions within services
  • Managed and delivered strategic nursing developments
  • Extensive experience in healthcare settings in a senior leadership role
