Job Advert Role Description

“We are looking for an enthusiastic Technical Instructor to provide assistance to our Occupational Therapists within our Children and Young Persons Acute wards, Orchard, Woodlands and Meadows”.

Technical Instructor:

 

The post holder will work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, providing therapeutic activities for individual/groups, and will assist the Occupational Therapist in assessment and treatment of patients needs.

 

Qualified to NVQ 2 level or relevant proven experience. The post holder will be required to provide assistance to professional and clinical staff with the planning, implementation and evaluation of therapy and care plans in order to support the mental, emotional, physical and social well-being of clients.

 

To assist with the delivery of group and one to one occupational, therapeutic and recreational activities; observing, recording and reporting patient responses. Previous experience would be an advantage.

Suitable applicants will therefore have at least one year’s work experience (either paid, voluntary or community work) of which at least 6 months must relate to working with individuals with mental health problems.  They must display competency in one or more leisure/creative/practical activities and possess the ability to teach practical skills .  Good communication skills, both written and verbal are required, as are good time management skills, and interested applicants must have the confidence and ability to work independently of a qualified OT.
